Here’s the complete overview of Rich Dad Poor Dad PDF: ![]() ![]() It’s in that moment where Tim Burton seems to be commenting on himself, wanting his work to be liked, but fighting not to sell himself in the process. The man selling his art next to her, Walter Keane (a slimy Christoph Waltz) expresses, “You’re better than spare change, shouldn’t sell yourself so cheap”, which Margaret responds with, “Oh, I’m just glad they liked it”. Yet, it is the work of Ulbrich that is the most unique, entirely her own. A cacophony of artists surround her, each person passing her work by without a glimpse. There’s a scene in Big Eyes where Margaret Ulbrich (played wonderfully by Amy Adams) is selling her art on a gravel path in San Francisco. Big Eyes - Hiding Behind the Eyes of an Artist Starting with doubt, running away to escape, and rising to top again, and it has all been done in the Tim Burton way. Big Eyes, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, and Dumbo has been a crescendo of cinema. Although few seem to notice, Burton has made three films in a row in the back half of his career, each one impressive, still flawed, but uniquely connected to the tall man from Burbank, California. Although that love and general respect among film critics became damp, I’ve still gravitated to Burton’s entire body of work. Either way, things changed for Burton and his popularity faded. Maybe audiences grew tired of the style? Or had Burton just become a massive sellout? Making Disney movies ( Alice in Wonderland) with large budgets, too much CGI ( Charlie and the Chocolate Factory), and no substance was where he drifted. Burton made more great films in the coming years, arguably his best in Ed Wood, but then came critical flops such as Mars Attacks! and Planet of the Apes and the shine of Burton had seemed to wear off. That’s something that not many directors can say. Then Batman took off, putting a spin on the caped crusader like never before, and cementing a director that had made four fantastic movies in a row. ![]() I was probably too young to see it the first time I did. It was dark, original, and helped me develop a crush on Geena Davis. It was Beetlejuice that truly had me take notice. It was easy for me to love and laugh at Big Adventure. I had already gravitated to the man-child that was Pee-wee Herman, watching his playhouse every Saturday morning, playing with the action figures, and buying the stuffed dolls. These were images, sets, and characters like nothing I had ever seen before. Starting with Pee-wee’s Big Adventure, to Beetlejuice, Batman, and Edward Scissorhands his style made an imprint on my mind. I’ve read books on him, and I’ve seen every movie. He’s not even my favorite director by any stretch of the imagination, but I do respect his work. The films of Tim Burton are a part of me. ![]() ![]() The controls and handling in WRC 8 are a substantial improvement from what we saw in the previous installment. Yes, the handling will still have you pulling your hair out and seeking therapy, but in a fun, realistic way. The controls of your vehicle in WRC 8 feel much more natural, and the frustration one feels in the racing feels like it’s derived naturally from the racing scenario, and not from the controls themselves. The game was tested on an Xbox Elite controller and played on straight default for the review. ![]() If you are not a fan of the original layout and scheme, the developers have provided numerous ways for you to adjust the control layout and sensitivity to your liking. ![]() In the end, the controls feel solid and help deliver an authentic experience while attacking the myriad courses, layouts and challenges. It feels strange listing “user focus” as something that I loved about a racing title, but here I am doing just that. WRC 8 has moved the needle from accessibility towards realism, and with that adjustment comes the absolute need to focus on the task at hand. You will often find yourself having to multitask while racing as you listen to your co-driver, clean the windshield and fiercely pay attention to your surroundings. It can be a bit overwhelming at times, but rarely has a racing title required such focus to be successful, and I loved every single minute of it.įor being the official FIA World Rally licensed game, the developers do not do enough to deliver that message within the title. On top of the lack of licensing promotion, the game does very little elsewhere to draw you into the world of rally racing. When you enter an event, whether career mode, season mode or quick play, you will get a handful of repetitive splash screens and quick intro videos for the course that do very little to promote the idea that you are part of the living, breathing FIA World Rally world. There could have been so much more done here to utilize the official FIA licensing, and excellent course and environments, but instead the presentation does very little to move the immersion needle forward. I understand WRC 8 is a bit of rebirth or the genesis towards a new direction with the franchise, so hopefully we will see presentation receive some more attention in future iterations. (2016) developed an integrated day-ahead stochastic scheduling model to dispatch resources and deploy flexible ramping, with demand–response providing the required flexibility. (2019) proposed a methodology to estimate the flexibility of a given day-ahead scheduling model. (2015) modeled the operational flexibility of the day-ahead market, which included flexible resources such as demand–response and energy storage, for managing the variability of renewable energy sources. To explore the possibility of EVs providing flexible ramping products, a novel distribution system locational marginal pricing (LMP) model has been presented ( Zhang et al., 2020). EV charging stations aggregate EVs to provide flexibility, fast response characteristics, and high social and economic benefits ( Neyestani et al., 2015). (2018) devised an integrated stochastic day-ahead dispatching model, which included EV parking lots, bulk energy storage, and demand response, to participate in the flexible ramp market. For example, electric vehicle (EV) charging stations ( Zhang and Kezunovic, 2016), energy storage ( Wang and Hodge, 2017 Khoshjahan et al., 2020), and flexible loads ( Li et al., 2022) can offer flexibility to the power system, which reduces the regulation burden on thermal units. Therefore, the exploration of system flexibility is of great significance for maintaining the secure operation of the power system.Ĭurrently, many scholars have studied offering flexibility to power systems via flexible resources as a way of enhancing system flexibility. The grid has to acquire adequate flexibility to satisfy the stochastic nature of the net load (the output of wind energy resources subtracted from the load) ( Ghaljehei and Khorsand, 2022). However, with the large-scale integration of wind energy resources, the variability and uncertainty of the wind power output seriously affect the secure operation of the system ( Khoshjahan et al., 2019 Park et al., 2022). In response to the growing energy crisis and environmental pollution problems, increasing the share of renewable energy resources has become a roadmap for many nations ( Ding et al., 2022 Han et al., 2022). The analysis results show that the proposed TPB multi-timescale disposal strategy effectively promotes the disposal level of the TPB problem. Finally, the proposed strategy is verified using a modified IEEE 118-bus system. Second, a multi-timescale disposal strategy, which includes an intra-day 4-h plan, an intra-day 1-h plan, and a real-time 15-min plan, is presented by quantifying the flexible demand at different timescales. First, the operation model of an electric vehicle charging station offering flexible ramping capacity is established. Based on the aforementioned characteristics, a TPB multi-timescale disposal strategy for wind-integrated power systems considering electric vehicle (EV) charging stations is established to address the TPB problem at different timescales. The accuracy of wind power and load forecasting increases with a decrease in the forecasting timescale. In this study, the aforementioned problem is defined as the tight power balance (TPB) problem. Once the power supply–demand balance is disrupted, system load shedding and wind spillage become inevitable. High wind power penetration and peak load pose significant challenges to the power system in maintaining the power supply–demand balance. 2College of Energy and Electrical Engineering, Hohai University, Nanjing, China.1China Electric Power Research Institute, Nanjing, China.Shengchun Yang 1, Yifan Chang 2 and Jun Xie 2* ![]() ![]() ![]() "But we have to be very selective and ensure they fall within our overall selection criteria, including cost. "We believe there is value in actively managed products," says Udiaver, a CFA charterholder and former vice-president and director of TD Asset Management Inc. co-founder Pramod Udiaver, whose goal is to maximize risk-adjusted returns by using a combination of passively and actively managed funds. Taking a different view while keeping a close eye on costs is Invisor Financial Inc. "Despite charging higher management fees, most active fund managers rarely beat the index, particularly over the long term," Shareowner says on its website. It relies exclusively on ETFs that track either traditional market-cap-based indexes or "strategic beta" indexes that rely on rules-based quantitative screens. Canadian Shareowner, for instance, shuns active managers. Passive versus active holdings: Most robo-advisors rely exclusively on exchange-traded funds, while others use ETFs in combination with fee-based series of mutual funds that do not pay any embedded commissions to brokers or dealers. As with traditional asset-allocation services, robo-advisors rebalance as needed to maintain the strategic asset mix that's suitable for you. This mix represents the "efficient frontier" for each portfolio, which is the best combination of risk and return. Based on your replies to questions seeking to determine your objectives, risk tolerance, time horizon and need for liquidity, robo-advisory services will place you in a suitable asset mix. This means that once you choose a portfolio, the robo-advisor can make changes in the ETFs or mutual funds that the portfolios hold, without requiring your approval for each trade.Īsset allocation and rebalancing: One of the most valuable services of robo-advice is the convenience of periodic rebalancing. They've received regulatory approval to act as discretionary portfolio managers. Most robo providers are advice-givers, serving the majority of investors who need and want advice, and are willing to leave portfolio construction to experts. "As your wealth accumulates, think about whether you will want more complex services and diverse investment products than what can be provided by online advisors," the Investor Office of the Ontario Securities Commission recommends. If you need more than asset allocation and rebalancing, the current generation of robo-advice services will at best be only a partial solution. Canadian Shareowner states in a disclaimer that it "does not provide investment advice or recommendations and investors are responsible for their own investment decisions." In other words, don't blame Shareowner if you make a poor choice. The pioneering example of such a service for self-directed investors is Canadian Shareowner Investments Inc.'s Model Portfolio Service, launched in May 2014. The exception to this rule is a brokerage that makes clear that it's responsible only for order execution and does not hold itself out to be an advisor. They can be held liable if investors are able to select unsuitable portfolios. Online investment advisors have the same responsibility as any other advisors for the decisions that investors make. ![]() Though there's ongoing discussion in regulatory circles as to whether robo-advice deserves special treatment as a middle ground between self-directed and full service, that's currently not the case. ![]() The levels of advice: Regardless of how advice is communicated, know-your-client and suitability obligations apply. A portfolio-manager registration implies a higher level of proficiency and care than the standard applicable to most retail brokers and dealers. Ask about the robo-advisor firm's registration and the qualifications of its personnel. Depending on the firm and your account size, you may have someone assigned to your account, or you may be connected to the next available representative. This will normally be accomplished via phone or email. Once these inconsistencies are identified, the robo-advisor needs to have a process in place to sort out what's realistic for you. ![]() It should identify inconsistencies in responses, such as wanting equity-type returns but also being unwilling to tolerate shorter-term capital losses. The questionnaire and the human factor: A well designed questionnaire should take you a long way toward finding a good investment fit, but perhaps not all the way. ![]() |
